Joy B. Hicks, MBA, CPM
Joy has worked in the healthcare industry since 2001, in medical billing, collections, and patient accounting. Her number one goal is to create a positive impression of the healthcare industry by promoting quality customer service.
As a medical office expert, Joy evaluates and analyzes opportunities for improvement within the medical office in order to provide proven strategies that improve work efficiency, increase revenue, and provides staff education and training, among other things.
Experience
Joy entered the medical office field in 2001 and has been involved in the entire process of the revenue cycle. She has also been responsible for maintaining departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards. Her main objective is implementing new policies to maximize insurance reimbursements. Her major contributions as a supervisor has been upfront collections.
Currently, Joy provides revenue cycle consulting services to physician practices and small hospitals by assisting medical office managers and business office managers in implementing strategies to improve billing and collections processes in order to maximize collections and reaching their financial goals.
Education
Joy has an AAS in Business Administration, an undergraduate degree in Healthcare Administration, and an MBA with a specialization in health administration. She also has over 13 years of on-the-job training, compliance training, and several certifications including certified practice manager, Medicare billing and customer service excellence. Joy has also attended many seminars related to the healthcare industry over the years.
