It says I can't edit because I have to verify my email? I haven't received the email yet.

 That's correct, because of spam, it is set to verify your email before you can add or edit any entries on the wiki.
 It usually takes at least a few minutes to receive the email, then you can just click the link in the email and it will verify for you. After verification you can add or  edit any unprotected pages. 
 You might want to be sure you entered your email correctly too, if it was off one letter it wouldn't be sent to you correctly as well.
